Buckeyes Get Married – Scott and Katie

August 25, 2009

Scott and Katie were great to work for. I performed at there wedding last month and I’m just getting the video logs caught up. Scott and Katie were both members of the Ohio State Marching Band. They trusted me and wanted to have a good time. We did some great intros at this wedding. There was tons of dancing all night. They had emotion, fun and made some great memories. Proof is in the video. Also check out the uplights. You can have those at your wedding too!

High School Sweethearts Matt & Jenn

August 23, 2009

Last night Matt & Jenn got married. They first met in Jr. High Band. They Began dating as juniors in high school and even dated long distance for 5 years. We were thrilled to provide the entertainment. From a customized entrance to a great centerpiece giveaway to a packed dance floor to a surprise emotional last dance it was one amazing night. The Heritage Club staff was on top of everything. Brian from Images by Daniel Michael is always great to work with. It all came together last night. Here are some of my iPhone pictures.

Cincinnati Art Museum

July 19, 2009

Last night I was at the Cincinnati Art Museum. Due to space restrictions it is important to have a compact/elegant looking set-up here. I think we accomplished that very well.

Here are a couple of pictures. In the first one you see our setup in black near the bottom of the steps. In the second one you see our remote speaker providing wireless sound to the courtyard during cocktail hour.

Now take a look at some other DJ websites. How would those big flashy setups look in this venue? Fun, memorable, creative and still classy www.heymrdj.net

New Website On The Way

July 2, 2009

Hey! Mr DJ Entertainment has a new website on the way. I’ve been working on it almost daily and hope to have it up and live next week. I’m excited about rolling it out. I think it better reflects us and how we have evolved in the past few years than the older website does.

Not to fear the older website will still remain but will be hosted at www.heymrdjentertainment.com

Here is a *sneak preview* picture from the new website. This one and others on the site were done by Pottinger Photography.

We are also using several pictures from Images by Daniel Michael.

I want to thank both of these companies for providing us with shots for the new website. If any other Cincinnati Wedding Photographers have FUN shots from Hey! Mr. DJ weddings feel free to send them over I’ll give you full credit.

Andrew and Lindsay’s Friday

June 19, 2009

A couple of weeks ago I got to spend my Friday entertaining at Andrew and Lindsay’s wedding ceremony and reception. The event was held at the Manor House. We planned this on short notice because Andrew who is in the Army reserves was given notice he was being deployed. Imagine getting married and then leaving your new spouse. We all owe them a debt of graditude for their sacrafice. Andrew I wish you the best. Maybe we can do a welcome home party in the future.

The video of the event is below. You will not hear any hip hop or rap as that was their request. We managed to squeeze in some newer rock for them and their friends to enjoy a few times toward the end of the night. As a side note Andrew and Lindsay had their first date going to their High School’s Sadie Hawkins dance.  As it turns out, I DJ’d that dance. Learning that was a pretty cool moment for me.

A Friend’s Wedding

August 11, 2008

Joann went to high school with my wife Christina. She and her fiance Jimmy hired me to provide entertainment for their reception. They didn’t realize what else I could provide until we met to discuss the event.

It was important to Joann that they have their event close to home. So they chose a rental hall for their event. This venue like many venues has no staff. You just rent the facility and decorate and have a party. Luckily we met early on in the planning process and I was a able to make some suggestions that they liked and offer some direction for the night and ideas for decorating.

The facility was Hilltop Reception Hall in Amelia, Oh. Typically the tables are set-up cafateria style like this.

No knock on the place but to me this is not good.

The couple decided they wanted the guests to be able to see each other and talk. So they set the tables up together like this and rented chair covers.

It made it look so much more elegant.

Looking back at the first picture you can see how plain the room is. So they could have spent a fortune on white Christmas lights and other decorations people usually resort to in these situations. Instead with the lights from my new company “Light Your Day” the room (same as in the first picture above) looked like this last night.

What an amazing difference!

I provided the ceremony sound system and music for the ceremony. We surprised their guests as the ceremony ended and the couple began to walk back down the isle with the typical wedding music exit Bridal Chorus by Mehndolson but quickly spun it into Another One Bites The Dust by Queen just as fireworks went off behind them over the lake. At the reception they saw the real value of spending extra on a real Master Of Ceremonies. With no staff, I was in charge of pretty much everything. I released tables to the buffet, filled champagne glasses, kept the event moving forward, made sure the knife was on the cake table, all the little things people don’t think about and all in the background giving Jimmy and Joann the spotlight. Other highlights – Top 10 List – Newlywed Game – Bubbles For The First Dance – Lot’s of 80’s Music, Teddy Bear Toss. Lots of dancing laughing and singing along. Here are a few pictures from jimmy and Joann’s Wedding and Reception.

My 3 Year Old Son Luke Couldn't Hang With Us Old Folks

My 3 Year Old Son Luke Couldn't Hang With Us Old Folks

It was an amazing night. It was really cool for me to have my wife and kids there and for them to see what I do every weekend. It was also exciting for me to perform in front of friends. I ws so happy with how everything turned out, especially the lights. Jimmy and Joann were even more happy they both hugged me at the end of the night and said it was PERFECT!
